Swan Hellenic Vega

The Vega was built just two years ago, specifically for the Polar Regions. She has a reinforced hull, and state-of-the-art technology that allows her to stay in one place without having to drop anchor. She has two restaurants, an observation deck, a lounge, a small gym, a spa, a Jacuzzi, a large sauna with great views, and even an infinity pool (heated, of course!). Everything about the Vega is top-of-the-line.

Allthingscruise.com sums up their review of the Vega with one word: perfect!

Connectingtravel.com raves that the “understated ‘Scandi-luxe’ design never distracts from what’s happening outside.”

CruiseCritic rates the Vega 4.5 out of 5 stars. All cabins are “spacious and elegant.” [The balcony cabins are 270 square feet.] Their website members give her 4.8 out of 5. They often used words like “luxurious” and “ultra-deluxe” and “amazing.” Food quality, cabin comfort (and size!) and service were highlights for many.

Itinerary

Our itinerary is a perfect blend of connecting and relaxing in extreme comfort, and exploring the Last Frontier together. We’ll greet you at the Buenos Aires airport upon your arrival and take you to our 4-star hotel nearby—included! Rest up before our real adventure begins tomorrow.

We are transferred from our hotel in Buenos Aires to the airport for our flight to Ushuaia. Then we transfer to the ship—all of this is included! Shortly after sailing out of Ushuaia, we’ll gather for a hosted Meet-n-Greet Party where you’ll meet your fellow cruisers and start making new friends right away. Dinner with the group is next, followed by ship entertainment or personal relaxing or…really, whatever you want to do, it’s your vacation!

Sea days are rarely dull. Take the time to sit back and let the world go by. The ship’s observation decks provide stunning views of the passing ocean. Days at sea give you the opportunity to mingle with other passengers and share your experiences of this incredible trip or head to our library which is stocked full of reference books. Get an expert’s view in one of our on-board lectures or perhaps perfect your photography skills with invaluable advice from our onboard professional photographers.

Among captivating glaciers, majestic icebergs and snowy islands, the Antarctic Peninsula is where most visitors to the White Continent live their Antarctica dream. It's the most accessible part, with scientific bases and incredible scenery. We’ll go ashore via zodiacs—inflatable, incredibly stable boats that get us from ship to shore. Shore excursions might include wildlife walks, kayaking, or a visit to Petermann Island, where Adelie penguins, blue-eyed shags and skuas, huge, lumbering elephant seals hang out.

Two more days at sea are the perfect chance to relax, unwind and do whatever takes your fancy. So whether that is going to the gym, visiting the spa, trying to spot a whale from the deck, reading a chapter or two, or simply taking a nap, these blue sea days are the perfect balance to the white days spent exploring on land.

We disembark in Ushuaia and fly back to Buenos Aires with priceless memories of the experience of a lifetime. Don’t be too quick to get home, though. Daddy Cruises will host a few days’ tour of beautiful Buenos Aires, one of the most gay-friendly cities in South America.

Daddy Cruise® FAQs

A:

The cost of the cruise covers just about everything: your cabin, tons of food and beverages (including alcohol and soft drinks!), excursions, staff gratuities, flights to/from Ushuaia, one hotel night in Buenos Aires, all the Daddy Cruise® benefits, entertainment and activities on board, and even taxes and port fees! About the only additional things you’ll want to budget for are: travel protection insurance (I never travel without it); transportation to/from Buenos Aires; and post-cruise tour of Buenos Aires.

A:

Cruise lines typically advertise cruise prices at half of what a cabin actually costs. They assume that two will share the cabin (called “double occupancy”) and each pay their half of that full cabin cost. If you sail solo, they often charge double their advertised fare, BUT we got a reduction—you’ll only pay a 50% upcharge to have your own full size cabin. So the ocean view cabin is just $10,379. The balcony is $12,943

A:

Of course! While we cater to the LGBTQ community, our allies are always welcome!

A:

You're always welcome to participate as much, or as little as you like. No pressure from us to engage, no hassle if you opt to sit anything out! We'll be there to welcome and encourage you at whatever level of engagement feels right for you.

A:

Enjoy it! We will offer plenty of opportunities to connect with the rest of us, but nothing is required. Dine with us, or on your own, or with a friend, or even in your cabin (room service is free 24 hours!). Join one of our private activities, or not. It’s your vacation—spend it however you like!

A:

Ships are designed to minimize this, and there are several ways you can minimize that risk even more: from patches you wear, to pills you take, to even the location of your cabin on the ship (which can make a difference!). Those who do get seasick experience minor discomfort and find bed rest helps. (maybe catching up on a movie in your room?)

A:

Absolutely not! Large, all-gay cruises have a reputation for this, but we'll be on a regular ship with a hundred other guests of all persuasions. You're certainly welcome to hook up with others if you want to, discreetly of course.

A:

Typically, most of our guests are middle aged or senior gay men, but younger guys join us as well. All genders are represented, as are all races and those of varying physical abilities. Allies (non-LGBTQ people) are always welcome.

Daddys never let the cold stop their fun
