Carnival Horizon

We sail on the Carnival Horizon, launched just before covid so she’s still fresh and exciting. US News & World Report ranks her as the fourth best ship in Carnival’s fleet, and ThePointsGuy rates her as the nicest, most upscale ship in the fleet. They love that the Horizon offers a top-deck, adults-only Serenity sun deck area; an extensive menu of spa treatments, salon services and fitness classes at the onboard Cloud 9 Spa; and a handful of upmarket cabin offerings.

Our main hangout will be the Alchemy Martini Bar, where trained mixologists whip up concoctions on the spot—from the menu as well as newly created just for you! Afterhours, attend a stunning show in the grand Liquid Lounge (the main theater), or head to the Punchliner Club, featuring top-notch comedians, different every night. Or perhaps a lively evening in the Piano Bar 88.

We’ll be in the Gulf of Mexico (hot!), so during the day you’ll want to cool off at one of the several pools on board (one of which is in the Serenity Adult Only Retreat area—no kids, yay!). Now, if you’re feeling adventurous, check out Horizon’s new onboard water park with it’s two big water slides and other water features.

Itinerary

The fun begins the moment you board the Carnival Horizon—which has been designed from bow to stern for your fun and enjoyment. As we sail out of Miami, we’ll gather for a hosted Daddy Cruise® Party. Here, you’ll meet your fellow cruisers and start making new friends right away. We’ll sail past Miami’s impressive skyline, and then skirt Cuba on our way to the ABC’s, across the Caribbean Sea.

Our first full day is at sea. Relax, unwind and get into vacation mode. Lounge on your private balcony or near one of the pools, or maybe even find a quiet nook to settle in with a book. Want to be more active on your day at sea? Play bingo, work out at the gym, watch a movie, dance all night, attend a cooking seminar, soak in a hot tub, watch a sunset (or a sunrise), play trivia games, sing along at the piano bar, do some wine tasting, check your email or surf the internet, grab a snack, watch live entertainment, get lucky in the casino, indulge in a spa treatment, catch the game in the sports bar, and on and on...

What’s the hurry to get there? We’ll enjoy another relaxing day at sea. Or will that be another exhilarating day at sea? It’s your vacation, so it’s your call!

The first of the ABC islands, all located just off the coast of Venezuela, Aruba is loaded with breathtaking beaches. The widespread, soft powder white-sand Eagle Beach may just take the cake, as it is top-rated worldwide year after year. Or choose to relax at the calmer beaches of the Westside, or take a walk on the wild side and explore the unruly beaches on the East (not for swimming). Throughout the island, you’ll find friendly & diverse locals, extensive dining options, numerous tours and activities to keep you busy. A strong and steady wind makes for great kite flying and kite surfing, Aloe plantations fascinate, local rum tasting is a treat, street art murals inspire, casinos lure, and dive sites abound. Enjoy some fun-filled action or simply relax on the beaches… the choice is yours!

Bonaire has for years been known as a world-class diving and snorkeling destination. But there’s much more: eco-tours, bird watching, kayaking, pristine beaches, etc. Because of the hot and arid weather, Bonaire has been a major producer of sea salt. Do not miss the "white mountains" waiting to be shipped out, and the salt flats where the salt is evaporated from the Caribbean Sea. From the Dutch architecture of the capital Kralendijk to the pristine coral reefs, you’re sure to enjoy this quietest of the ABC islands.

Curaçao boasts a landscape that is dramatic, stark, and volcanic. In contrast, Willemstad, the capital, seems a cozy Dutch haven with its neat row houses. And while those gabled and tiled roofs illustrate the island's heritage, the bright, pastel houses speak pure Caribbean. Islanders themselves reflect this same colorful contrast: over 50 different nationalities have come to call Curaçao their home. And it’s one of the most gay friendly islands in the Caribbean, boasting the highest membership rate of businesses in the International Gay Lesbian Travel Association in the Caribbean.

After all this, you’ll be ready for another full day at sea, either to relax…or to energize one more time! Lounge on your private balcony or near one of the pools, or maybe even find a quiet nook to settle in with a book. Want to be more active on your day at sea? Play bingo, work out at the gym, watch a movie, dance all night, attend a cooking seminar, soak in a hot tub, watch a sunset (or a sunrise), play trivia games, sing along at the piano bar, do some wine tasting, check your email or surf the internet, grab a snack, watch live entertainment, get lucky in the casino, indulge in a spa treatment, catch the game in the sports bar, and on and on.

Here’s your last day to enjoy vacation mode, at sea!

Welcome back to the states--relaxed and rejuvenated, and full of memories that will last a lifetime!

Daddy Cruise® FAQs

A:

The cost of the cruise covers your cabin, tons of food and beverages (excluding alcohol and soft drinks; you’ll pay extra for those), all the Daddy Cruise benefits, entertainment on board and so much more. There are additional things you’ll want to budget for: travel protection insurance (I never travel without it); excursions (you’re free to disembark in each port, but the experience is much better if you join an organized outing with us or with the cruise line); transportation to/from the ship (flights, ground transfers); gratuities of $16/person/day (for crew staff: housekeepers, waiters, etc.), and pre-cruise hotel (the ship will not wait for you if your flight is late for whatever reason, so I always recommend you arrive at least one day before).

A:

Cruise lines typically advertise cruise prices at half of what a cabin actually costs, assuming two will share the cabin (called “double occupancy”). If you sail solo, they will charge roughly double that advertised rate to cover the full cost of the cabin.

A:

Of course! While we cater to the LGBTQ community, our allies are always welcome!

A:

You’re always welcome to participate as much, or as little as you like. No pressure from us to engage, no hassle if you opt to sit anything out! We’ll be there to welcome and encourage you at whatever level of engagement feels right for you.

A:

Enjoy it! We will offer plenty of opportunities to connect with the rest of us, but nothing is required. Dine with us, or on your own, or with a friend, or even in your cabin! Join one of our private excursions, or go with one offered by the cruise line, or explore a port on your own, or stay on board. It’s your vacation—spend it however you like!

A:

Ships are designed to minimize this, and there are several ways you can reduce that risk even more: from patches you wear, to pills you take, to even the location of your cabin on the ship (which can make a difference!). Those who do get seasick experience minor discomfort and find that bed rest (maybe catching up on a movie in your room?) helps.

A:

Absolutely not! Large, all-gay cruises have a reputation for this, but we’ll be on a regular ship with a thousand other guests of all persuasion. You’re certainly welcome to hook up with others if you want to, discreetly of course.

A:

Typically, most of our guests are middle aged or senior gay men, but a lot of younger guys join us as well. All races are represented, as are all genders and those of varying physical abilities. Allies (non-LGBTQ people) are also very welcome. And then, of course, the rest of the ship will be filled with people of all walks of life.

Even in the cold, Daddys know how to have fun!
